State troopers say a crash between a school bus and a truck northeast of Gainesville Saturday morning managed to avoid injuries. Troopers say the crash happened at State Roads 100 and 121 in Union County just after 6:30 a.m.According to a crash report, a school bus was stopped at the intersection, when the driver of a truck didn’t see it, and ran into the back of the bus. The driver of the truck, a 19-year-old Newberry man, and his passenger, a 15-year-old girl from Gainesville were uninjured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. All 13 children, and 4 adults in the bus were also uninjured, troopers say. This crash comes a day after an off-duty Gainesville Police Officer was seriously injured after rear-ending a school bus in Marion County, FHP says. According to FHP, the officer, operating his assigned marked GPD Ford Explorer, was traveling southbound on SW 49 Avenue Road when he failed to observe the stopped bus at the intersection of SW 82 Place Road and collided with its rear.
