MYAKKA CITY, Fla. (WWSB) - A homeowner who ran toward a burning helicopter that crashed in his backyard Thursday evening said he will never forget what he saw.Jordan Richards has lived in Myakka City for about a year. He said he is used to seeing mosquito management helicopters spraying near his home every few months, but Thursday evening was different.“Ten twenty seconds after it flew over we heard the crash,” Richards said.Richards said he grabbed his flashlight and ran outside after hearing the crash.“The neighbor had come over the fence and we ran around to the other side and then found the other part of the helicopter there and lifted it up off of him and pulled him out away from the fire,” Richards said. The crash drew a heavy response from local law enforcement and first responders.“Everyone that was out there was very disturbed by it. It’s not something you think is ever going to happen,” said Randy Warren, with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.PREVIOUS COVERAGE | NTSB gives
